Face 2 Face with God
By Susanne Surmi

Tugging, Struggling and Questioning are the words that come to mind when asked, “How was camp this summer?” This was the fourth youth camp International Interns organized in Saransk, Russia.

Twenty-four English-speaking students came including 12 Nationals from the Baptist churches. The Gospel was preached clearly through personal testimonies, teaching from the Word and showing a lot of love. There were no open decisions made, but there was tremendous growth.

The focus of the teaching was on people in the Bible who experienced a “Face 2 Face” encounter with Jesus, and how that changed their lives forever. Some of the more antagonistic to the Gospel said camp was the greatest time they spent during all their life.

The students experienced something real, something they couldn’t quite understand, and it was a planted seed. Jeremy Matlock is permanently living in Saransk now and will continue to follow up with the students as he does home Bible studies.
